So I had quite a few entries for the giveaway. Some I really liked. Some I didn’t like so much… There were a lot of names around friendship, love and self care which were really good but I wanted something eye catching.
Hollser27 on Instagram suggested ‘The Shadow of Anonymity (Shadow) shawl which I really really really liked but I didn’t think it would fit the shawl. She’s agreed to let me use it for another design though.
There were two different names that I really liked so I had to decide between! There was ‘Twilight Crescent Moon’ from Susan Cartledge in the Winwick Mum Sockalong group and she was poised to win…
Then this morning, Aquila Cook who is part of the Cavetsy team on Etsy came up with ‘The Lady of Shalott’ and I was in love! It’s no secret that I have a thing for Tennyson… And The Lady of Shalott is my second favourite poem. I’ll tell you sometime soon what my favourite one is. RiverSystem agreed that this was the best name ever! Only because he wants this guitar! If you’ve read the poem or seen the painting by John William Waterhouse, you’ll understand why we are agreed that that is the winning name. I think Quil’s choosing her prize from For The Love Of Yarn as we speak.
My parents used to have this poster on their bedroom wall!
I loved all the names that were chosen and I’ll be contacting some of you to see if you’d like me to design a shawl based on the name you’ve chosen.
So who won the patterns?
- Val Davies (al_tinkum from Twitter)
- Margaretathorsen from Instagram and her blog….
- And kandjdesigns who commented on the blog.
I’ll be contacting you all to get your email addresses shortly so I can forward the pattern to you.
I wanted to give you all a free copy of the pattern but that wouldn’t be fair to the winners. So I’m going to give you a coupon code to get 50% off the pattern for just 48 hours! If you use Shalott at checkout, you’ll get the discount. And because I’m feeling generous, you’ll be able to use it on all of my patterns in my Ravelry store! If you don’t fancy making it yourself, you can buy it from my Etsy store for £44.99 plus P&P!
Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for entering! Come back soon for more information more inspiring patterns that are coming soon!
And so I introduce The Lady of Shalott Shawl! Ooh! Is anyone else thinking that I need a photo shoot near a lake?!?!
